Motown alumnus, Paul Riser Sr., Motown musical arranger, composer and trombonist, who was responsible for co-writing and arranging dozens of top ten hit records recently donated an amazing piece of history to the Museum–an original song inventory from Motown’s Artist & Repertoire (A&R) department! This binder was one of the ways Motown kept track of the influx of songs being recorded in Studio A. The inventory includes over 40 Motown artists and their songs–many of which had been recently mastered and released to the public. The producers of the songs are also noted. Thank you, Mr. Riser for this magnificent addition to the Motown Museum archive collection!
Updated on November 17, 2022 – Paul Riser Sr. returns to donate a trombone from his personal collection to the Museum’s archives. Mr. Riser came to Motown as a trombonist in 1961 and has performed on many classic Motown classics along with The Funk Brothers.
