The Motown Museum recently received $10 million in funding as part of a $1.7 trillion federal omnibus package, championed by Sen. Debbie Stabenow.
“We are thrilled with this significant contribution from Senator Debbie Stabenow that will allow us to move forward with our final phase of construction. As a tireless advocate of Motown Museum, we cannot truly express our gratitude for her work in championing our project,” stated Museum Chairperson and CEO, Robin Terry.
However, the overall cost of the museum’s redevelopment plan has increased due to inflation-related surges in construction costs. The Museum has increased its fundraising target to $65 million and will continue to fundraise later this year to make up the difference until construction is done.
A 40,000-square-foot building is planned for the third and final phase of construction. This portion of the expansion will include interactive exhibits, a theatre, an expanded retail experience, and more!
